How can I get rid of furniture dents in my carpet?

Question from the H&D Magazine Mailbag...

Dear H&D,

We've just had a massive re-arrange of firniture in our house, getting rid of some of the IKEA stuff we bought when we moved in together, and 'upgrading' it to some nice oak pieces.

The only problem is that now we've moved the bookcases etc, the carpet underneath is all squashed down from the weight of where the furniture sat.

What can I do?

Sally

For a simple, eco friendly

For a simple, eco friendly tip Ian McCormack, Technical expert at ServiceMaster Clean suggests popping an ice cube straight from the freezer onto the affected area and leaving it to slowly melt into your carpet. The moisture from the ice cube will soften and plump up the fibres of the carpet and minimise the appearance of the indentation. Then gently dab dry with a clean cloth. This will work on either woollen or nylon carpets.
