Rudolf the Cherry nose Reindeer...
It's time to get the apron out... Christmas is coming and H&D magazine have got a quick kitchen make project for you/you and the kids in the run-up to the big day.
Get the wooden spoons at the ready and let's make some festive reindeer fairy cakes.
Fairy Cake Ingredients (15 cakes)
- 100g self raising flour*
- *Replace two tablespoons of flour with drinking chocolate or cocoa
- 100g caster sugar
- 100g butter
- 2 eggs
- 15 cake cases
Decoration Ingredients
- Glacé Cherries
- White Chocolate Buttons
- Milk Chocolate Drops
- Pretzels (preferably chocolate) or similar shapes for antlers
- Buttercream Icing
- 85g/3oz icing sugar
- 55g/2oz butter
- 28g/1oz cocoa powder, sifted
Method
- Preheat an oven to 180C.
- Place 15 cake cases on a baking tray.
- Place flour, sugar, butter and eggs into a mixing bowl.
- Use a electric mixer (optional) to mix the ingredients together for 1 minute.
- Use a spoon and knife to place the mixture into the cake cases.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
- When completed remove from oven and leave to cool.
- When cooled, spread buttercream icing over 'face'
- Add 2 white buttons with milk chocolate drops on for eyes.
- Cut glacé cherries in half and add half a cherry for a nose
- Break pretzels in half and stick in the top as antlers
- Eat.
